Notes from the Studio - May
May has always been my favourite month of the year. I love watching the garden change so quickly that even the smallest daily shifts begin to feel noticeable - new stems appearing almost overnight, leaves slowly unfurling, blossom arriving and disappearing again just as quickly.
At this time of year I always find myself wanting to begin something new. The changing season seems to slow things down in a way that encourages closer observation - noticing the evening light through the garden, flowers emerging one by one, or how quickly everything begins to change once the warmer weather arrives.
Much of what I’ve been working on lately has grown from these seasonal observations. Quietly taking shape behind the scenes is a new botanical birth flower collection inspired by the symbolic flowers associated with each month of the year - a collection designed to unfold gradually through the seasons, drawing on flower symbolism, botanical studies, and flowers gathered over time.
